Re: 15 years in Singapore!

That’s such a heartfelt and honest reflection — thanks for sharing it! πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬

Fifteen years is no small feat — especially when you initially planned for just two. Life really does have a way of surprising us. It’s beautiful to see you acknowledge both the gratitude and the quiet frustrations that come with a long stay in a foreign country. Not getting PR or the material milestones can definitely sting, but it’s clear that you’ve still built something incredibly solid — both financially and personally.

Your message is a reminder that sometimes, the journey itself matters more than the formal recognition or possessions we hope to gain along the way. You’ve experienced a rich slice of life in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, and that in itself is remarkable.

Re: Average salaries in Singapore

Thanks, this is useful and is aligned then if not broadly. Added responsibility is not so much the issue and personally pay has to be a factor i.e. no point moving country if you are moving backward significantly. I will just keep looking. Thanks!

Good. A house is for living in, for starting a family, for bringing up your children. The purpose of a house is not to be feverishly exploited by speculators.

Re: Average salaries in Singapore

One of the junior staff at the major MNC where I worked for was recruited by Singtel, he took the leap just for a small pay increase. He later confessed to me how much he regretted it. So, I would say pay should not be the main thing.

When it comes to senior product managers, pay at the MNC that I worked for was in the S$250-300k range (annually), which is pretty much in-line with what the same job paid in the U.S., but the level of responsibility is significant - you are basically the entrepreneur of a multi-billion dollar business, and calling almost all of the shots.
