Re: REP renewal - unique situation

Thanks for the reply - do you know if there is any way to find out if my REP expiry date will automatically be extended when my spouse officially completes the registration as a SGC?

I wasn't sure if I needed to put a request into ICA for this.
❱❱

1. After your wife become sc, you will remain a PR under her sponsorship, as confirmed by ICA FAQs.
2. As the REP expiry date is available in the ICA portal, so by right you can always check after your wife complete the sc registration. But if you need this info immediately, I think the only way to contact ICA directly?

Sorry just saw this. To prove our Chinese ancestry, we provided the PH naturalization papers of 1 parent (from PRC to PH), the PH alien registration card of 1 grandparent (it shows on the card where he is from in China), and then for the other parents, we just provided a family tree document that shows the Chinese names of ancestors.

Thank you for the reply, and no issues at all. Did you provide them at the point of application?

Application is still pending - fingers crossed the whole time!

Re: MOE exemption for children of SG teachers in international schools

Thank you, NYY1. Yes, I have read that. However, 2 questions:

(1) I am told that even if the school does not need to get an exemption / waiver, the parents still have to separately file for an exemption? Is that incorrect?

(2) Is that policy applicable across all international schools? Or does UWC have a special arrangement with the MOE?

Thank you, again.

Re: MOE exemption for children of SG teachers in international schools

Hi all. Does the MOE provide exemption to SG citizen children to attend the international school where their parents may be teaching? Is that considered a valid reason? Please let me know if you would know.

If that is not possible, what do you think is the best time to apply for citizenship so that children can continue attending an international school throughout?

Thanks for all your help.

We got approved after a 10-month wait. Before applying, my stay in SG was only at 25 months - my wife's was even shorter at only 10 months. I think what got us approved were race, income, age, and education. I'll be very surprised if you get rejected, especially since you already have a child. Good luck! [-o<

Thank you! That’s super encouraging. I think both of you having advanced degrees is an edge though. I particularly worry about the race part - what did you provide in the application to have your Chinese ancestry registered?
