Palm oil is not only the highest yielding cheap vegetable oil on the earth but also a safe raw material for edible oils and daily chemicals, and a raw material for biofuel.

As a raw material for edible vegetable oils, chemical raw materials and biofuel, palm oil has attracted worldwide attention in the process of ecological protection and industrial pollution. As a result, palm oil wastewater treatment also receives much attention.

Palm oil mill effluent (POME)is a yellow liquid with a unique unpleasant smell and comes from oil extraction, cleaning and washing process in the POME factory, which is featured with very high COD and BOD.

Due to its acidic nature (pH 3.4–5.2), high salt and suspended solids, oil and grease, the untreated discharge of POME can result in considerable environmental consequences.

Each ton of palm oil produced emits about 20 tons of high-concentration organic wastewater. When the high-concentration organic wastewater per ton is treated according to the current sewage pond treatment method, it is equivalent to emitting more than 210 million tons of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere every year. It's important to solve the problems in palm oil wastewater treatment.

To achieve environmental requirements and economic challenges, the POME factories are trying to get efficient and return on the investment process.

JIUWU HI-TECH has made a lot of studies and many rich experiences for POME treatment since 2012.
JIUWU HI-TECH offers the solution for POME treatment with an integrated ceramic membrane technology which is a green, friendly environment, economic efficiency and has the following technical benefits:
No discharge of wastewater
Low capital investment ;
Low operation cost;
Oil is concentrated and water is recycled
After integrated process filtration, concentrate including surplus sludge from anaerobic and centrifuge is used as fertilizer for cattle farm and purified water can be used for recycling or the bolier feed water due to salts and organic compounds are removed.

Re: Absolute favorite hotels

The most memorable hotel experience in my lifetime was at the Rayavadee in Thailand. Back then it was owned by Sheraton, and I had a couple of free night vouchers and Rayavadee seemed like the best place to use them. Our ‘room’ was a two story bungalow, right on Railay Beach which is ‘other worldly’ kind of awesome. The resort is so massive, you have to call a free buggy to take you around. Just steps outside the resort we could get cheap Thai food. I barely spent any money there, and because our toilet had a problem, they gave us free dinner vouchers.

EP processing time when switching jobs within Singapore

Hi, I'm after a little advice – I'm trying to get an idea of the processing timeline for recruiting a candidate, who would work remotely from Singapore via a payroll company.

Here's some info on the candidate in question:

- Indian passport holder
- Currently works for a company in Singapore under an EP
- Earnings will exceed SGP10k per month
- Will work 4 days per week under permanent contract
- Educated at university level

The payroll company, which handles the permit/visa application, has advised me of a VERY LONG processing timeline: likely 3 months to get through the waitlist and a further 1-2 to onboard the employee. So that's around 5 months in total! :shock:

Does the above sound accurate? Many thanks in advance!

I'm not a huge fan of Penang, but I would stay at the EandO if I go again. Not sure when you were last there; the newer wing (not exactly new any longer though), Victory Annex, has some higher floors with balconies and nice views over the water. Rooms are also big at 50+ sq meters. However, at this point the original wing may be in better condition (renovated in 2019).
