My wife plans to keep her PR going as long as possible by renewing her REP. We know there is a risk of rejection or shorter duration given. She plans to retain ties to Singapore in terms of her business. Her genuine intention for being in the US is to accompany our children who are studying there. However, we could probably come up with another purpose, such as expanding her Pte Ltd by increasing exports to the US (she already exports to the US now). CPF isn’t substantial enough to worry about liquidating, so that’s not a consideration.

I’ve been on an EP for more than half of my life. Both of our kids started out on DP’s. I did apply for PR once but it was rejected, and after that, the incentives for me to reapply fizzled out (with my employer, I needed to get PR in the first 5 years to make it worth my while… beyond that, I’d be on the losing end, financially). Our first child got PR just before P1 .....

Re: UHT or Pasteurised Fresh Milk

Yup, I'm not into UHT Milk...the way it's packaged, stored, taste, nutrients..it's an acquired taste I guess.. and yes, as malcontent had said, can cause constipation.

Fresh milk lasts more than 2-3 days, inf act more than a week when stored in the correct temperature.

Re: My PR chances ?

That's basically the answer I was expecting. Thanks anyway.

Just wondering where other Frenchies work in SG -- I work for an American company that bought an SG start-up, which they consolidated as their local office, while I think French engineers tend to work for French companies in SG (Thales, STMicro, Air Liquide...). But I might be wrong.

Kinda surprised by the salary you would expect my wife to earn at her level though, even if I indeed think she could be making much more. Maybe she should try to apply somewhere else.

Re: My PR chances ?

Just looking at your profile, I would say your chances are probably quite low.

Your field is definitely something that is very appealing but you haven't been in Singapore for that long so that stands against you.

The problem you face is that you aren't competing against everyone else. You are specifically competing against your nationality/ethnic group. I know a lot of French people in financial services as well as in the technology sector earning quite a bit more than you.

As therefore with respect to your wife, she is competing against all the other Chinese applying. And, as a "senior" IT consultant, I would expect her to be earning maybe 3 times she is earning - just to give you a reference point for what her cohort are earning.

Singapore has really clamped down on PRs (unless you are Malaysian Chinese), so if you want to, just apply and see how it goes but don't expect anything.

Re: Full Cream Milk or Formula Milk?

For convenience, use UHT as it lasts unopened outside of the fridge for the longest period of time.
However, some people have been known to complain about the taste vs pasteurised.
