Re: PR Approval Chance 2023

Next application we have few updates. From August my wife will start her Phd in NUS (Not saying that this will turn the table but just an update from our side).
❱❱

It is good to have something to plan on improving. However, dont be mislead that doing a PhD in a local university will always lead a pr approval. It really depends on the area on which the PhD is done if it aligns with SGs future development requirements. Not all local bachelors/PhDs get approved for pr. Since, your spouse's field of study seems related to life science/ psychology, i am not sure how ICA views doing a PhD in a such related fields. Moreover, PhD is more of a mental battle and can take around 4yrs or more (if full time) and also the cost (if not in scholarship).

My point is that she can do PhD if she is really interested in it and is willing to go through it. If it is for PR i just request you to reconsider it, as it may or may not .....

Your mind is set, just go ahead and apply. You won't hit the lottery if you don't buy the ticket.

Seems like it took 7 months of being outside Singapore to realise how valuable Singapore was to you.

If you're looking for reassurance, you probably will not get it here.

If I go one step further, I infer that you're Indian, female, probably single (or married with no kids), about 35-40years old. Of course i could be wrong - but based on the inference, I'd say it's not so likely an ICA officer will look at your application and click approve.

You can take a look at his second post and then you will realize that you are guess is half-way correct :D

Ha. Except the nationality, i got everything wrong. 😜

May I know where can I find the local address is mandatory because I have checked all faq on ica website but I couldn’t find it

Secondly we can sacrifice but real reason is not want to save on rent. My husband is Greek and he stay with me in Malaysia with spouse pass. If Malaysia immigration do surprise check and find out we are not living together he can lose his spouse pass #-o

Hence I was surprised when you mentioned you could submit the PR application without a local address, and the application is even "pending"

Hi everyone,

I'm currently preparing to apply for Singapore PR... ❱❱

Here's your problem, in my view. As an EP, you have not been contributing to CPF. At your age, you've missed at least 20 years worth of CPF contributions had you been working under PR.

So, at most, you've got about 20 years of earnings to contribute to CPF and that probably won't be enough of a nest egg to guarantee that you can reside in Singapore until you die.

Perhaps if you're able to demonstrate independent investments sufficient to carry you through to death, this might not matter. Otherwise, even if you do get PR, you are always going to have to wait for the day your PR doesn't get renewed because you retired and the gahmen doesn't think you have enough money to support yourself to the end of your life. PR really isn't permanent.

Final Update:
Submit button disappeared on 9th April, exactly 17 months after the application date. Received email from ICA on April 18th 0100 AM stating there’s an update for the PR application. As expected its a rejection. But the rejection letter was dated April 15th.
Thanks for all your support!
❱❱

Dont worry, I can feel your pain as we are around same age group and it took me around 9years to get approval. Things are quite tough for indians to get pr, and thanks for your contribution in this forum by replying. You are young and have a kid, so may be next time you will have a better chance with longer stay. Meanwhile you can keep improving your profile.

Although i said my opinion before, i think you will have a better chance next time or in further applications.
