Re: Which is better - buying for dividend payout or buying for gain

Both strategies have their strengths, and the better option really depends on your goals and risk tolerance. If you're after consistent income, dividend stocks can be a solid choice. They tend to be more stable and provide regular payouts, which is great if you're looking to supplement income or reduce volatility in your portfolio.

On the other hand, if you're focused on long-term wealth building and can stomach more ups and downs, growth stocks—like those in the tech sector often offer much higher capital appreciation, even though they may not pay dividends.

Personally, I like a mix of both to balance income and long-term gains, especially in uncertain markets.

Re: Which is better - buying for dividend payout or buying for gain

You are not stuck at all. In fact, if you don’t prune the shrubs, you may never see new growth. I was in a similar boat around 15-20 years ago, and while it took me a few years, I got rid of every single individual share that I owned (except my employer shares) and got everything into a few index ETFs, which is still the case today.

Indexes are always pruned, companies that can’t keep up get dropped, and emerging companies that deserve a spot in the index get added. It’s very methodical and mechanical process - and that is what you want… not just for managing the mix of equites, but also your regular investing in them. Discipline is the most important indicator of investor success. Things like market timing and stock picking are just the opposite, they often work more against you than for you.

Re: LTVP by PR wife

Not enough info. You didn’t mention age, nationality, race, any criminal record, industry, housing, education, etc. for both yourself and your spouse.

Many factors are at play even though your income seems sufficient to support yourself and spouse.

Re: Employement Pass renewal

Hi. i have a different question related to the information you shared.
Could i ask what additional supporting documents were asked when CORP2 made the EP application? How long was the processing time for your approval?
Thank you

Looking for feedback - EP or SPass transfer - supporting documents

Hello,
I have a job offer from a company who have an spass quota. I hold an EP that's valid for a few more months, and it's been active for about 5 years. Company I'm joining is going to make an application soon. I'm indifferent at which pass they will apply for, altho i believe work pass form can be used to make application for both the pass types.

My question is around what additional supporting documents were asked by MOM besides education certificates verification.

Curious if bank statements, NOAs from IRAS were also asked as supporting documents.
Note that is not renewal, this is new EP application with a new company.

Helpful if you could share what were asked in your case

- did you get a transfer EP or SP, or renewal approved recently?
- what additional supporting documents were asked?
- what was the processing time?

Thank you
