If I were you, I'd apply now regardless.

Even with lesser approvals granted this year, the elephant's share of PRs are still going to be granted to your kind of profile.

Hi everyone, thinking about this again, since I'm thinking of switching companies, should I apply while I'm still with the current company or wait till I'm with a new company, or it doesn't matter?
❱❱

Join the new company, wait for 6 months of payslip and then apply.

Back here again 2 years later, took your advise and applied 6 months later (back in Nov 2021), got my PR in 6 months, thank you all on this forum! :D

Nursing in Malaysia

Hello, I'd like to ask if anyone is familiar with applying as a foreign nurse (Singaporean) in Malaysia. Upon reading, i understand they only accept specialised nurses. i've got a bachelor's and 5 years experience and will undertake specialisation soon. admittedly, an unconventional decision to move to Malaysia for work when others are finding ways to move from Malaysia to Singapore, but i get that a lot. it's a long story. in any case, what are the chances (specific to nurses) of being offered a work pass in Malaysia as a Singaporean? what's the process like?

Re: Can anyone please let me know if 190k in 2022 a good salary in Singapore ?

Got it. I was referring to expats moving to India.
❱❱

Right. So there's largely 2 types of foreigners that would move. Someone who's been moved there on an expat package from a country with a high living standard. They are going to be given expat packages and I believe one of the big reasons for this is that moving to India would be considered a hardship posting. The other kind of foreigner is someone who is moving from a less developed country. They are going to be given local packages because it is not considered a hardship posting.

This is related to the other topic where we were talking about expat packages in Singapore. It's well known in general now that expat packages are on the decline here because in the last 3 decades, Singapore standards of living have improved quite a bit and they don't consider this a hardship posting.

I believe this is universal logic.

Re: Additional benefits for employees

Only those in super high level positions might get education and housing allowance. Generous allowances for multiple stuff are a thing of the past now.

Ordinary lower level ones probably get help with the initial relocation fee and plane ticket to SG. Maybe some are able to negotiate for an annual plane ticket back home but after that, they’re on their own.

Precisely

Housing allowances are quite common for expats.
❱❱
Nope they are not. They are few and far between nowadays. Most foreigners get posted here on local terms, whatever that may be for the role and level that they are filling.
❱❱

Sounds like we have very different experiences, most of my friends who are expats are either European or American and have come to Singapore with their children’s education being paid for, along with some housing allowance that allows them to be able to afford to rent landed properties in the Thomson and Woodlands area.
❱❱
It's not my experience. It's pretty well known that there aren't as many such packages being given out these days.
