i'm in town to cast my vote, boys!

flew in this afternoon via HKG! i badly wanted to cast my ballot...

now i'm holed up at MBS and i'm not sure if this trip has been worth it because nobody knows what's going to happen (the election officials coming to the door OR... just if they're appearing just in spirit).

and i'm now too tired from jetlag and lack of sleep (overnight transit) and i just want to shower and go to bed.

insight 1: the protection worn at various airports (and in the air) all around the world, especially in asia, is extreme at this point in time when few people are traveling and all are (seemingly) healthy.

no raincoat and visor is going to protect anyone when everyone from the front to the back of the plane is being squeezed like sardines onto the airport shuttle bus

and nobody social distances when forming up to be processed...!

the situation at HKG (yesterday and today) was pretty darn alarming. it was only slightly better at Changi airport because the plane had a jetbridge on arrival.

insight .....

Re: Former PR wishing to return

Hi PNGMK- thanks for the reply.
Just to clarify- I don't want to get my PR back. I am asking if I can get a PEP (personalised Employment Pass).
Your advice pretty much confirms my hunch. Although I do know of at least 1 case similar to mine. He was the same age cohort, Malaysian dad, Japanese mum. He had a blue IC as well, renounced it and pursued his studies in Australia. Several years later he returned to Singapore, and got his PR back. This was in the 90s, so I guess the govt policy has tightened up since then.

What happened in the end? Did you get the PEP?

I imagine if you skipped NS you wouldn't get it.

New EP application during card registration stage

Heyy guys!

I am in bit of a situation related to employment pass and changing companies, hoping I will get some answers and suggestions on how to proceed after the below sequence of events:

1) Interviewing with company A and Company B
2) Company B is bigger(around 3500employees) and stable than company A(start-up, around 100employees)
3) Company A offered a role(~5.5k) and provided me with tight deadlines to accept.
4) Company B had a long process pending still and i was not sure if company B is actually going to offer me one in the coming days.
5) Accepted company A's offer and EP application got approved in few weeks.
6) Joined company A and they provided me with an "issuance of EP card"/notification letter from MoM which says i have to make an appointment for card registration by this date and also states that i can stay and work from this date to +1 month.
7) company B comes with an offer now :???: which is far better (8k + bonus)

Note: eponline status shows the status as .....

Re: Has rent dropped due to Covid 19?

It's just two parameters and they could be due to WFH, but both our elevator and our shuttle have been sans peeps for some time now when we get on.

Then again, I think I read that 60,000 expats had been let go recently, so it looks like rentals will indeed slip further going forward.
