Re: SC Singapore Citizenship application of Filipino-Chinese successful after 8 months!

I've know a few over the years who have also be similarly successful. And, like your situation you all I know have shown continuous advancement/assimilation over the years. Sizeable increments in salary, children, and also while you maybe from the 'peens, your Chinese ancestry didn't hurt either. All apparently good enough to sway the old bias that stems from the 1960's. Congratulations. I also see a general overall better acceptance of those from VN in the past 10 years. Granted one must still stand out among your peers but at least is not a wet blanket anymore. Again, Congratulations.

Congrats! Truly a huge rarity to hear Pinoys (okay Chinoys) to get an SC! Probably they see potential of your family populating SG.

Personally, I think I'm still at the bottom of the ladder.

Re: Returning Singaporean applying to sponsor PR and LTVP

It’d be awfully narrow minded if ICA required all SC sponsors to be the more affluent/supporting spouse in the relationship.

The first thing you should know about ICA is to play by their rules. Not the other way round. That’s how the SG system works. The Singaporean who sponsors the application should be employed, that’s what being sponsor means. I don’t earn big bucks and still got LTVP and PR for my husband.

You should also alter your way of thinking. You’re not the only Singaporean with a foreigner spouse. I’ve seen way too many Singaporeans online who think because they studied/worked/did NS in SG and or have SC children, their spouse deserves a PR/LTVP.

There are many cases of sham marriages, hence why ICA has to be careful about each application. If it was that easy for foreigner spouses to get these long term visas, you wouldn’t hear about people struggling to get them. Even in .....

SC Singapore Citizenship application of Filipino-Chinese successful after 8 months!

Just got one of the best surprises today: SC granted after just 8 months! We were expecting a wait of 1.5 years to 2 years based on what we've read here on the forum and other websites.

Our timeline since arriving in SG:

2019 Q1 - I arrived in SG on EP
2020 Q2 - Wife arrived in SG on DP
2021 May - Applied for PR
2022 Mar - PR granted
2024 Apr - Applied for SC
2024 Dec - SC granted

Our profile when we applied for PR is here: https://forum.singaporeexpats.com/viewtopic.php?f=78andt=134139andp=864059#p864055

What changed since then (2021 VS 2024):
1. Had a son born in SG. On LTVP during application. He got PR after we already applied for SC.
2. Changed company twice and increased my income 190k>220k>250k.
3. Wife got into a PhD program at NTU and is almost done.

I really think that what got us the early approval was due to my recent increase in income. We uploaded my new Cert of Employment as an update to our SC application just 3 weeks ago.

Unless the government has a way of .....
