Actually if Malaysian gov could make the areas safer, I'm sure a lot of us would really want to move there. Given the cost of living so much lower there. I've had friends stayed for a few years in a beautiful gated landed home, but now they're back in Singapore i think commuting is a pain if you have to come Singapore everyday..

Safety is definitely a big concern. I think another consideration will be, the community. If there is a big enough community there, it will definitely helps. It is hard to relocate there without any friends. If a group of retirees decide to move there together, it will be much easier
